Employee Rights & Employer Obligations

Product Testing
Required Testing Standards
- Potency testing: THC, THCA, CBD, CBDA โ mandatory on all products

- Contaminant testing: Pesticides, heavy metals, microbials, mycotoxins, residual solvents (concentrates)
- Moisture content tested on flower (max 15%)
- Approved labs: Must hold Alaska testing facility licence; ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation required

Medical Use
Note: Alaska's medical marijuana programme (Ballot Measure 8, 1998) predates the recreational programme. Patients receive some expanded allowances.
Qualifying Conditions

Quantity Limits โ Medical
- Registered patients may possess up to 1 oz usable marijuana (same as recreational)
- Physicians may recommend higher amounts โ up to 6 oz with documentation
- Caregivers may assist up to 1 patient
- No sales tax applies to medical marijuana purchases made by registered patients
Programme Rules
- Registry cards issued by the Alaska Dept. of Health โ annual renewal required
- Physician certification must be renewed annually
- Patients aged 18โ20 may access medical dispensaries with valid registry card
- Out-of-state patients: Alaska does not currently recognise out-of-state medical cards

- Age: 21+ for adult-use vs 18+ for medical (with physician certification)
- Tax: Adult-use subject to cultivation excise tax; medical exempt from certain local taxes

- Home cultivation: Both medical and adult-use adults may grow up to 6 plants
